
Two F6F-5s were fitted with the 18-cylinder 2,100 hp 
Pratt and Whitney R-2800-18W used by the F4U-4 Corsair 
and fitted with a four-bladed propeller. Called the XF6F-6, 
The aircraft proved to perform better than the F4U-4 in many 
respects, except top speed which was 423 MPH at 25,000 feet. 

The F6F-6 had an armament 4 20 mm cannon carrying 220 rounds each.
